| Where are the Contributor icons in WIndows 7? |
Windows 7 has new desktop and Explorer layouts which manage when information is displayed. The System tray icons are not shown by default but can be individually displayed by selecting Customize in the Icon management screen (select the Up Arrow icon in the system tray area). In Windows Explorer you can display the Colligo root folder (green icon) by selecting Tools > Folder Options in the Explorer toolbar. The Navigation pane options include options to display all folders and/or automatically expand subfolders. |
| I tried to upload an email but it is not on the SharePoint server and it is not in Outlook - where did it go? | If Contributor tries to upload an item from Outlook and it fails for any reason it creates an Import Issues folder in the Outlook folder tree under Colligo for SharePoint and places the item in that folder. |
| Where does Contributor store the local cache? |
The local cache location can be seen in the Configuring Options window. However, by default, the local cache storage is placed in the following location: For Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\ColligoOfflineClient\Storage5 For Windows Vista: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\ColligoOfflineClient\Storage5 You can change the location to any other valid path including the local file-store; a network location; or other (for example, USB drive). For performance and connectivity reasons, the local file-system is the preferred location for the cache. |
| What is the difference between between Offline and Online views? | The Online view is a browser view directly from the SharePoint site, so whatever you have set up there is reflected at the Online level. The Offline view is different as its view is created by Contributor and comes from your cached files within your computer system. This view does have the same functionality as the Online view minus the Settings option. This is because Contributor inherits its view from the SharePoint site and it does not allow modification of this at the Offline level. |
| How does the Contributor License work? |
We license based on the user, not just the computer, so basically Colligo licenses on a per user per installation (machine) basis - this is the license count. Colligo gives an activation credit based on the number of licenses to enable IT repairs, machine changes, etc. to be carried out without requiring licenses to be returned or deactivated. This activation credit has a limit after which no further activations are allowed without contacting Colligo and having more credits applied to the license. Enterprises may use up their credits at differing rates based on the volatility of their users and machines. If an Enterprise is using terminal servers or other virtual or machine sharing technology then the same applies. Each user installing a database counts as an activation. If databases or sessions are not preserved through logoff and subsequently restores on the same machine id then a new activation occurs. This decrements the remaining activation credit. |
| Does Colligo work in a Terminal Server Environment? | Contributor Client, Viewer, Outlook Add-in and Uploader all can be operated in a single session or single user terminal server environment. There are restrictions, however, which require further investigation of any particular deployment scenario. |
| What’s the difference between the MSI and EXE installers? | For individual or small-scale deployment, an interactive ContributorSetup.exe installation program is provided, which ensures that necessary prerequisites are installed. If these prerequisites are not installed, the setup program downloads them from the web and installs them prior to launching the main Contributor MSI file. The Contributor MSI file is also available as a separate download. For automated deployment, or deployment where some customization of the MSI file is required, it is necessary to ensure all prerequisites are preinstalled, and then use the Contributor MSI file for deployment. |
| Why aren’t we notified when updates are available? |
Not all updates are required for every user and we do contact users if the update is urgent or mandatory. Please ensure we have your current email and contact details. However, there are a number of mechanisms to keep up to date including registering for our RSS Feed, visting Colligo Support Site or using the Check for Updates command in the product itself. You can always contact Colligo Technical Support. |
| What types of Authentication does Contributor support? | Contributor supports standard SharePoint authentication methods such as default AD credentials, NTLM and Kerberos as explained in the following Knowledge base article Supported Credentials and Authentication. Forms, smart card or other certificate based authentication are not currently supported. |
| How many times have I Activated my license and who in my organization has activated Contributor using their product key ? | Colligo Technical Support can provide a report of this information to authorized users. |
| What are my synchronization settings and how do I configure them? | Configuration settings can be view and set using the Options dialog, see Configuring Options. |
| How do I create a Sites Config file and redistribute it to all other users? |
