Location-Based Metadata Defaults and Claims-Based Authentication Support Provides Deeper Integration with SharePoint 2010
Vancouver, BC, December 16, 2010 – Colligo Networks Inc., the leader in Microsoft SharePoint client solutions, today announced that it has added two significant new features to its award-winning Colligo Contributor product line: support for location based metadata defaults and claims-based authentication. These two new features provide an even deeper level of integration between Colligo Contributor and the new capabilities of SharePoint 2010.
Location-Based Metadata Default Support
- SharePoint 2010 includes a new feature that manages the default values of metadata fields based on the location in the folder hierarchy and applies them when a user uploads a new item to the folder. Large document libraries are often organized in a folder/location structure where the location of a document in the structure is what drives the default metadata values on the items. For example, in an enterprise with many teams, there may be a Team property associated with all of the enterprise’s documents. Colligo Contributor supports the use of location based metadata defaults by pre-populating the defaults when creating a new item in SharePoint, even while offline.
Claims-Based Authentication Support
- SharePoint 2010 incorporates Claims Based Authentication, a new, more powerful, and flexible authentication model that works with any corporate identity system, including Active Directory, LDAPv3-based directories, application-specific databases, as well as new user-centric identity models such as Windows Live ID. Colligo Contributor now allows customers using SharePoint 2010 to authenticate using a claims-based identity.
“SharePoint 2010 has added significant capabilities for Enterprise Content Management (ECM), and our customers are rapidly moving to SharePoint 2010 to meet their email and document management needs,” says Trevor Dyck, Director of Product Management at Colligo. “Colligo Contributor is a key component of any enterprise deployment of SharePoint and supporting the latest features for metadata and authentication demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing our customers with enterprise grade solutions that leverage the powerful new features of SharePoint 2010.”
