There are a variety of Colligo Notes replication errors that can result from a problem with configuration of Lotus Notes on the computer. Some of these errors include:
- “The Notes Replication service failed to start” (on startup of Colligo).
- “Failed to retrieve the database category for the database” (while adding a database to the “Replicate Notes Databases” window).
- “The following databases are missing on your machine” (at the beginning of the Notes replication process).
- “No replica found” (at the beginning of the Notes replication process).
- “Database extraction error” (during Notes replication)
These problems can occur for one of the following reasons:
- Colligo did not find the correct Lotus Notes installation in the PATH environment variable.
- Colligo did not find the correct Notes INI file.
- Colligo did not correctly locate the user’s Lotus Notes ID file.
- Colligo did not correctly locate the Lotus Notes data directory.
To resolve these issues, we recommend that you search the machine for additional Notes installation files, INI files, or Notes ID files. Your safest bet is to remove any of these which are not required.
You should also ensure that the Lotus Notes installation directory is contained in the System PATH environment variable, and that there is only one Lotus Notes installation directory in the PATH.
Colligo finds the Notes installation files using the PATH environment variable. It also looks for the INI file in the PATH variable. Note that it searches all directories starting from the beginning of the PATH. If it does not find the INI file in the PATH, it will use the registry value HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Lotus\Notes\<Notes Version>\NotesIniPath to find the INI file. Having found the INI file, it uses the KeyFilename entry to locate the ID file.
The Notes data directory is typically specified in the Notes INI file. Locate all Notes.INI files on the machine and ensure that they point to the correct Notes data directory (e.g. C:\Notes\Data).
Also, check the registry to ensure the Notes data path is set correctly there as well. Check the following registry values:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Lotus\Notes\<Notes Version>\DataPath
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Lotus\Notes\<Notes Version>\DataPath
