Workgroup for Lotus Notes | How it works!

Resources

Colligo Workgroup Edition for Lotus Notes allows multiple users to communicate electronically without requiring them to be attached to their corporate network or the Internet. It has a unique capability that enables users to replicate Lotus Notes® databases client-to-client without the need to connect to a Domino server. Replication respects all the ACL (access control list, or security) privileges that are set by the system administrator and ensures that all local replications are logged just as if the users were connected to the Domino server.

Traditional vs Colligo Networks

In addition to local replication, Colligo Workgroup Edition for Lotus Notes enables users to set up a private, secure network directly between their laptops. To fully realize the features and functionality of the Colligo software, two or more users must be running it simultaneously. While Colligo software is used most frequently over ad hoc Wireless Local Area Networks (WiFi), it is an IP-based application and therefore operates regardless of the underlying connectivity technology.

Colligo Workgroup Edition for Lotus Notes is packed with tools that let users interact with their private workgroup community in ways they never thought possible outside of the office. And it's super easy to use. Users are up and operating in just three simple steps as shown below:

Step 1 - Discover
At the click of a button, users can create and use their own WiFi 802.11 ad hoc instant network, however Colligo can also be used on a wired or wireless network in the office. Once they have created an instant network, Colligo automatically discovers other users in the vicinity and then displays their availability and presence information.

Step 2 - Connect
Authenticate other users and set up an encrypted connection. Colligo's code word based technology guards against "man in the middle" attacks. All authenticated users are shown in regular font (as opposed to italics for unauthenticated users) and are connected via a 168-bit SSL encryption, the same level of security used for Internet banking.

Step 3 - Interact
Replicate Lotus Notes directly client-to-client at the touch of a button. Only users with correct Notes privileges (as set centrally by their IT department) are able to send or receive changes to/from the databases of other users. Once the team has replicated together, only one member needs to sync with the Domino server when they have a connection (for example, at the end of the day).

Collaborate with other users by exchanging files and messages to keep track of ideas, changes and additions on a real-time basis. Chat, interact and collaborate or send an electronic sticky note. Drag and drop files over other user names to instantly transfer to a single user or broadcast to all authenticated users. Share resources such as printers, Internet connections or other peripherals. Share Microsoft® Outlook® calendars to view free/busy time (without revealing your appointments) and group meeting requests.Share out Windows® folders to the other users on the network. This enables users to act like file servers on the instant network, so client-server applications (such as CaseWare® Working Papers) work easily out of the office in a local workgroup configuration.
