TIP: To determine whether your system is 32- or 64-bit: click Start | right-click Computer | click Properties – look for “System type”
.exe vs .msi
- .exe files automatically install all prerequisites, and require user interaction. They cannot be customized, or used for automated deployment.
- .msi files assume that all prerequisites are installed. They are customizable and can be used for automated deployment.
