Colligo Networks Introduces Workgroup Edition Version 4.0
Users gain new features, including secure peer-to-peer file, folder and printer sharing
San Francisco, California, February 9, 2005 - Colligo Networks, Inc., the leading developer of "instant networking" software, today launched Colligo® Workgroup Edition 4.0 at the 'Microsoft Windows Anywhere' Developers Conference in San Francisco. Version 4.0 builds on the core feature set of Workgroup Edition 3.3, Colligo's flagship product that solves nomadic workgroup inefficiencies by enabling mobile teams working in any location to connect Windows®-based laptops, Tablet PCs and Pocket PCs via server-free, peer-to-peer wireless networks and then share data and communicate electronically.
"In today's high paced working environment, workgroups must find ways to be more productive when they work together away from the office," says Barry Jinks, President and CEO, Colligo Networks. "Our products have been well accepted in markets such as accounting, management consulting, financial services, education and government. We believe the flexibility and usability enhancements in version 4.0 will enable us to expand within these markets and penetrate new ones as well."
Through a process of "Discover, Connect and Interact", Colligo Workgroup Edition enables users to create instant networks in any location using standard WiFi hardware already installed in most of today's laptops, tablet PCs and handhelds. The software then automatically discovers and sets up a secure connection with other authorized Colligo users on the local network. Team members can share files using Windows applications, communicate electronically, via ink-enabled instant messaging or whiteboarding, arrange meetings via Outlook calendar, exchange vcards, and utilize shared resources, such as printers and Internet connections.
Colligo® Workgroup Edition 4.0 introduces the following new features:
-
Secure Microsoft Windows-style folder and printer sharing: enables Microsoft Windows-based applications to run in a Colligo peer-to-peer instant network as if they were installed on or accessing data from a server on a corporate network;
-
'One touch' instant WiFi networking: an easier to use and more robust network set-up, including improvements for Windows XP SP2;
-
Archiving: transaction logs of all chats, sticky notes and file transfers that are saved on the users hard drive;
-
Enhanced security: upgraded security and encryption which includes IPSec in addition to the existing SSL encryption;
-
Improved user interface: improved useability that reduces the complexity of managing the network and collaborating with other users.
Geneva Capital Investments uses Colligo running on Tablet PCs to help them trade options on stock indexes at the Chicago Board Options Exchange. "Colligo's instant networking capabilities coupled with support for ink chat and file transfer, have enabled us to improve our productivity on the trading floor," commented Michael Giangiorgi, Head Trader at Geneva Capital. "The new archiving capabilities in Workgroup Edition 4.0 will enable us to log all of our messages and conform to SEC guidelines for instant messaging."
With over 250,000 licenses of Colligo's products shipped worldwide and approximately 50,000 Colligo Workgroup Edition users in the accounting industry, Colligo's software is becoming the pervasive instant networking solution among teams in the professional services sector. "In the four months since installing Workgroup Edition on 600 auditors' laptops at Grant Thornton in Canada, we've seen a great improvement in collaboration among our audit teams in the field," says Don Thomson, National Director of Professional Standards, Grant Thornton LLP. "Our audit teams have found the technology exceptionally easy to install and intuitive to use. Compared to our previous methodology of setting up networking hardware at the client's office, Colligo is saving us and our clients both time and money."
Colligo was recently recognized by Microsoft as one of 25 innovation partner companies featured in its "Innovation Starts Here" brochure. The brochure highlights companies that have been technically innovative in developing solutions with Microsoft technologies. Further, Colligo was among three selected finalists in the "Security Solution" category of Microsoft Canada's second annual Partner Program IMPACT Awards announced in November 2004. That same month, Colligo became a Microsoft certified partner.
Colligo will conduct a special demonstration of Colligo® Workgroup Edition 4.0 at the Microsoft Windows Anywhere' developers conference on Wednesday, February 9 at 1.20 - 1.40 pm.
Colligo® Workgroup Edition 4.0 will be available from Colligo at the end of February at www.colligo.com/store, retailing at $99.99 and includes the rights to install the software on a computer (PC, laptop and Tablet PC) as well as a Pocket PC per license.
