New Wireless Networking Software Transforms Mobile Workgroup Efficiencies

Three easy steps with one-click functionality allows teams to interact in any location

NEW YORK, CeBIT America, June 17, 2003 – The mobile workforce is on the rise and yet the pressure is on the mobile or “nomadic” worker to remain productive when away from the office. Colligo Networks, the leading provider of “instant networking” software, today announces the launch of Colligo™ Workgroup Edition 3.2 at CeBIT America. The easy-to-use software solves “on the go” productivity inefficiencies by allowing team members to work together wherever they need to share data and communicate electronically between any Windows-based handheld device.

Through a process of “Discover, Connect and Interact”, Colligo’s patent-pending technology brings mobile solution to groups that need to interact in connected, disconnected (server free) and intermittent modes.

“Our intent is for Colligo to become a ubiquitous tool for mobile professionals,” comments Barry Jinks, President and CEO, Colligo Networks. “Bundling our software with mobile devices is critical to that intent. We’re excited to be introducing Colligo software to help improve workgroup productivity wherever and whenever they need to interact.”

Colligo will showcase Colligo™ Workgroup Edition at the pre-CeBIT America media event: Digital Experience, to be held in the Altman Building (135 West 18th St) on the evening of June 17, 2003.

This new software is integrated into a variety of mobile devices, including select HP iPAQ Pocket PC devices. “Mobile workers are often challenged to stay productive and remain in touch with business team members while away from the office,” said Cindy Box, Director of Marketing, HP Handhelds. “Colligo provides HP customers with an information exchange solution to keep them seamlessly connected.”

The Colligo™ Workgroup Edition demonstrates the following features and benefits:

  • Discover: a patent-pending automatic discovery functions ensures swift and easy identification of any Colligo-enabled mobile device user within range. This technology works on any IP network but is particularly useful for devices that have wireless LAN (WiFi) capabilities.
  • Authenticate: Colligo’s patent-pending authentication method exceeds today’s complicated standards for security by eliminating wireless “man in the middle” attacks. Colligo takes this secure process and makes it simple, replacing long codes with more recognizable “word phrase” authentication codes.
  • Interact: users can connect and interact with mobile devices in one of two ways: 1. ad hoc – where there are no access points or wireless infrastructure, Colligo allows users to create an “instant network” workgroup; 2. devices that are connected to a wired LAN or WiFi network can connect to each other directly without the need to go through a server.
  • Applications: workgroups interact in an intuitive way, using the applications with which they are familiar. Colligo provides common applications, such as Outlook® calendar and NetMeeting®, and API connectors to enterprise solutions, such as Lotus® Notes®. Colligo includes applications for sharing files, folders, resources and communications, such as sticky note messaging, chat and whiteboarding.
  • Secure: the discovery and authentication processes, built with SSL and x509 certificates, ensure that the users work in a secure and private environment.
  • Simple: Colligo’s easy installation and one-click functionality let people work the way they want to work without the need for IT support.
  • Lightweight: IP-based architecture allows Colligo to operate on several hardware platforms, wired and wireless networking technologies.
  • Hardware Agnostic: with the choice of any Windows-based laptop or handheld device and WiFi hardware, the user does not have to compromise on choice or costs.

Colligo™ Workgroup Edition is available via direct online sales at www.colligo.com, retailing at $69.99 and includes the rights to install the software on a computer (PC, laptop and Tablet PC) as well as a Pocket PC per license. Additional licenses are required for further use.
